daniel stefanik is one of the techno and house newcomers of the last years. his carefreeness as a dj behind the decks and his likeable appearance are literally distinctive for a new generation of young, down-to-earth producers from germany, which are the result of the influence of väth, villalobos and hawtin on the one side, and solid but hedonistic house on the other. whereas many producers nowadays have dedicated themselves to only one musical direction, the influence of kerri chandler, chez damier or kevin saunderson is clearly noticeable in stefanik’s music. his longplay debut for cocoon recordings is a mirror of all these influences and yet it’s so up-to-date and contemporary like only few other techno and house albums today.

limited to 250 copies !!! on august 4th 2011, the sony music warehouse in enfield, north london was attacked during riots and looting that affected many areas of the capitol over the course of a week. the warehouse burned down completely, taking with it millions of cds and vinyl stored by the distributor pias including the back catalogue of freerange. the blow was devastating for many labels, with the logistics of manufacture and minimal insurance payouts meaning that recreating the entirety of their old stock was completely impossible and many releases have been lost forever as a result.

nice price deal !!! hallucinating, mechanical, and dark, spatial techno from three legged race. the wrong element ep solidifies robert beattys recent mind bending live performances into proper physical form: a 12 inch extended play record. the high voltage lines of slum moog and brick 808 define the all saturating sound seeping from the black lead earth of lexington, kentucky. the mastery of tension and release found throughout beattys work with hair police and burning star core is here crystalized into a rich and daunting psycho-physical techno fit for the club and the basement. listen with the lights off.

bristols elastic dreams present its third release, with label owner a sagittariun taking a back seat on this one and introducing sheffield based dj/producer, nyra, to the fold. hot off the heels of his ep for never learnt, nyra keeps on track with two new cuts of basement techno and deep, murky dancefloor tracks. the release is bolstered by a remix from skudge on lead track >uno 10<. skudge really need no introduction, but to the uninitiated, the swedish duo have been plying their simple, raw yet powerful sound since 2009 with releases and remixes for echocord, drumcode, fear of flying, rush hour and of course their own skudge imprint.

striking about the 12-inch is the way it was done. the basement is the track >hammering<, a techno track that uses a sample of a work song from an historical recording dating from the 1930s. the swinging-souly voices are combined with a clear and funky beat that pushes you forward, and you wont forget the voice for a long time, even after the track has been listened to multiple times.after that anthony shake shakir created a remix that afterwards was again remixed by splits & slits.
